Tate Sr.
November 11, 1939 – December 15, 2025
James A Tate was born to Ed and Tena Tate on November 11, 1939 in Beggs, Oklahoma. He went home to be with the Lord December 15, 2025 at 9:45am. James attended Beggs High School until 11th Grade leaving school to help with family farm.
While visiting family in Mexico, Missouri he met and married Carol Jane Shivers July 31, 1961. To this union five children were born, Robbin Phillips, Sharon Broadus (Sam), Kevin Tate Sr., James Tate Jr. & Clinton Tate.
James worked for Roadrunner Glass Co. until he went to work as a maintenance worker at Oklahoma State University where he retired. He loved working on fixing cars. His favorite past time was fishing and watching westerns. He was also a member of the Okmulgee Eastside Round-up Club.
James was proceeded in death by his parents, Wife, 12 siblings, daughter Robbin, son Clinton and 3 Grandchildren. He is survived by 3 children, 22 grandchildren, a host of Great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Home Going Service is scheduled, Saturday, December 20, 2025, 1:00 p.m., First Baptist Church-South, 8124 E. Highway 16, Beggs, OK; with Elder Oscar Higgs III, delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Okmulgee Cemetery, Okmulgee, OK
Visitation will be Friday, House of Winn-Okmulgee from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
