Woodruff
August 1, 1944 – February 9, 2021
James Earl Woodruff was born August 1, 1944 to Minnie Lee Morgan and Charles Woodruff. After the passing of his mother, James spent his early years in Ohio with his Dad, but later moved to Haskell to live with his Aunt and Uncle Johnny Brewer.
In 1963, James graduated from Booker T. Washington School, Haskell. He enlisted in the Marines in 1964-1968 where he spent a stint in Vietnam. After spending four years in the military, James worked for the Oklahoma City Zoo, OG&E, and the State of Oklahoma until his retirement.
James Earl and Zondra married in 1977. James joined Eastside First Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, building fund treasurer, choir member and in 2005 was ordained as a minister. James was a gifted, prolific artist who produced many beautiful works of art. For many years, he enjoyed buying and selling "Limousine" cattle. He spent many hours with his horses, Amigo and Grace and his faithful dog Cookie.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Zondra, stepson, Nathaniel, step granddaughter, Alexandra, brother Charles Jr. (Chucky), sister, Pamela; Meeka, Ms. Helen, relatives and friends, Geraldine, Kenny (Marlene), Rev. Morgan, Ivan, Elvin, Miranda, Corey (Tracey), Lawrence (June), Bonnie, Carol, Frank, Melvin, Rev. Sells and Eastside family.
A Home Going Celebration, will be conducted, Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Precious Memories Chapel of House of Winn Funeral Home-Muskogee, 2200 Military Blvd. Interment will follow in Haskell City Cemetery.
Public Visitation, Tuesday, February 23rd, in Precious Memories Chapel, during the hours of 1:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M.
