Mrs. Jane Elizabeth Fields, age 72, a long time resident of the Vernon, OK community, transitioned in her home, Monday, December 15, 2014.

Jane Elizabeth Bragg was born June 6, 1942 to Archie Bragg and Christine Thirdgill in Malvern, Arkansas.

She grew up in the CME Church, where her brother, sister and cousin sang and she played piano at the early age of 10 years old. She went to Frances Tuggle Elementary and Wilson High School.

Jane was raised by her grandmother Geneva Thirdgill who brought her up in church, attending service multiple times weekly, her grandma Thirdgill didn't play when it came to church attendance. Jane always said when she left home she was never going to church again.

She came to Oklahoma City to live with her sister, Lavert and it wasn't long before she was singing and playing the piano for another church and she loved every minute of it.

She met her husband Anderson C. Fields in Oklahoma City and they were married on March 29, 1963. They were both saved under the guidance of Pastor Arnett Bryant in 1963 at Bethlehem Temple. They were married for 51 years. God blessed them with eight children together. The couple returned to Vernon to live in 1977 with two small children. Starting in 1992 she assisted her husband with devoted and faithful service in many different capacities at the New Hope Baptist Church until her death.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, one brother, three sisters, her son-in-law and piano student, Lee Roy Selmon and her special fishing friend, Wanda Ray Coley.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Anderson C. Fields, seven daughters and one son, Barbara Armstrong (Eric) Vernon Ok, Claybra Selmon,Tampa FL, Rogernee Bussey (Frank) Tracy CA, DeVona Fields, Harrington DE, Camille Fields, Vernon OK, Cachet Fields, Oklahoma City, Ok, Yolanda Fields, Oklahoma City, OK, Anderson C. Fields Jr. Oklahoma City, one sister Georgie McCutchin (Steve)of Oakland California, three brothers George Bragg (Vivian), Archie Bragg (Felecia), James Bragg (Shirley),Two sister-in-laws (that she thought of as sisters) Lucille Lang, Boynton OK and Faye Fields, Wichita Kansas, one brother-in-law ( she thought of as a brother) Kenneth Fields (Katherine), Haskell Oklahoma, 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. The New Hope family and the District IV Rally church family, two classmates Ruby Hudson, Marino Valley CA, and Lois Easley, Las Vegas NV, special daughters LaNita Lang, Kathy Kennedy, Barbara Lang, Lisa Cannon, cousin/sister Vivian Jones and a host of friends.

A Home Going Celebration will be conducted, Saturday December 20, 2014, 2:00 p.m., Hanna High School Gymnasium, Hanna, OK; Interment will follow in Vernon Cemetery, Vernon, OK.

Visitation will be Friday, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
