Jessie Mae Bell was born March 6, 1930 to Ola and Esther Haywood. All of her education was in Muskogee County Schools. She graduated high school from Sugar Creek School in Boynton, Oklahoma. She lived most of her life in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Jessie accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Black Jack Missionary Baptist Church and later Wilson Chapel Church. She was later led to a tape ministry with R. B. Thieme, Jr. Bible Ministries from Berachah Church of Houston, Texas of which she followed until her death.
Jessie met and married Milton Craig, Jr at an early age. To this union 5 children were born, a set of twins died at birth. Milton preceded her in death.
Jessie was a homemaker and a domestic employee for several families in Muskogee. She was employed by Dr. Tom Waters, Charles Martin, J. T. Anderson, Roger Hilfiger, Burt Baker and a few others. During her time of pleasure, Jessie enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening.
During the later part of her life, she married Morris E Bell, who preceded her in death.
Jessie departed this life on January 11, 2016 after a short stay at Broadway Manor Nursing Home.
The love ones she leaves behind to cherish their memories of her includes her siblings, Betty Jean Harris and Nellie Mae Hawkins of Rock Island, ILL., and Matthew Haywood of Kansas City, Mo., her sons, James Craig, Marvin (Jeanie) Craig of Muskogee, Ok and Elvin (Bonnie) Craig of Houston, TX, her grandsons Mark Craig of Muskogee, OK and Marcus Craig of San Diego, CA; and her great grandsons Anthony Craig and Quincy Ragsdale-Craig and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relative and friends.
A Home Going Service will be conducted Saturday, January 16, 2016, 1:00 p.m., House of Winn Funeral Home & Cremations, chapel, 2200 Military Blvd., Muskogee, OK; with her son, Minister Elvin Craig delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Snake Creek Cemetery, Leonard, OK.
Visitation will be Friday, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
