Reflections of Life
Jewel Cotton was born September 1, 1926 to Lee and Minnie Mae Abernathy. She was the fifth child born to this union.
Jewel accepted Christ at an early age.
In 1954 she married Wayman Cotton. She worked with children as a child care provider. She and her husband was a blessing to the community. After the home going of her husband she united with Fountain Baptist Church and was a faithful member. Jewel was a loving person, always putting others before self.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wayman Cotton; sons, Henry Brown Jr. and Lucious Cotton. Siblings, Ida (Walter) McDowell, Marion (Bobbie) Abernathy, Freida (Bobbie) Herndon Marshall, Lorenzo (Margret) Abernathy; one granddaughter, Wanda Meeks; one great granddaughter, Shania Brown; one son in law, Earnton Meeks.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one sister, Libbie (Willie) Griffin; one daughter, Wilma Meeks; five grandsons, Henry 3 rd (Trina), Matthew, Brian, John, and Eric; granddaughter, Gail Meeks; a host of grand, great grand and great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a special, special friend, Patricia Wytch.
A Home Going Service is scheduled Friday, May 26th, 2017, 11:00 a.m., First Baptist Church-Okay, 4011 E. 72nd Street E., Okay, OK; with interment to follow in Marshall Cemetery, Wybark, OK.
Visitation will be Thursday, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00p.m.
The family has been cared for by House of Winn Funeral Home & Cremations.
