John Eugene Harlin, was the sixth of eight children and was born February 15, 1942 in Mazie, OK; to Myrtle Jackson and Thomas Harlin.
"Johnny" as he was affectionately called by family and friends accepted Christ at an early age. He attended Jerusalem grade school and graduated from the historic Manual Training High School with the class of 1960.
Johnny was employed with Bower Feed Company until he was drafted in the United States Army where he served three years and one year tour of duty in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged from the armed forces and worked for the federal government as a soil conservationist for forty one years.
Johnny met and married Bertha Marshall in 1964, and to this union a son, Bernard was born.
He was an avid golfer, bowler and loved going to the casino.
Johnny went home to be with the Lord, March 25, 2017.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Bertha of 54 years, of the home, one son, Bernard (Krystal) Harlin, Wagoner, OK; 2 grandsons, Travis and Sheldon, 2 brothers, Gordon (Pat), Muskogee, OK; Kenneth (Alma), Sylvania, GA; 1 sister, Doris Davis, Bixby, OK; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss him.
A Home Going Service is scheduled Friday, March 31, 2017, 11:00 a.m., Evangelist Temple, 115 W Southside Blvd; Muskogee, OK; with Pastor Richard Brooks, eulogizing. Interment will follow in Ft. Gibson National Cemetery, Ft. Gibson, OK; with military honors performed by Ft. Sill Honors team, Ft. Sill, OK.
Visitation will be Thursday, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
