John Floyd
Sheppard
August 16, 1949 – July 22, 2021
Sheppard or "Shep" as he is known by family and friends, left this life and entered eternal life Thursday, July 22, 2021. John Floyd Sheppard was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on August 16, 1949, to John and Ruby Sheppard. He was the third of five children. Sheppard attended Manual Training High School. Upon graduating from Manual, he attended Langston University, until his mother's health begin to fail. He withdrew from Langston and returned home to take care of his mom and younger siblings Don Sealey, and Roschan.
His parents raised him in a loving Christian home, where at an early age he was baptized at Old Agency Baptist. In later years, he moved his membership to The Church of the Living God.
He met and married Doris Christine White. They were blessed with two daughters, Christie and Carnita. Shep helped in rearing his nephews Chris, and Lindsey, and his niece Trentity, whom he thought of as a daughter.
Shep loved helping people and cherished his neighbor Chief, a young man he thought a lot of; he even took care of an elderly neighbor, Mrs. Susie Clark. He worked many years at Oklahoma Children's Center and later transferred to Jess Dunn Correctional Center, from which he retired.
Sheppard loved repairing and rebuilding cars, and bowling, watching his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys, and watching movies.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife Doris Christine of the home, his daughters Christie of Dallas, TX, Carnita (Robert) of Oklahoma City, his sister Don Sealy of Oklahoma City, his brothers, Albert and Roschan (LaRita) both Oklahoma City, along with a host of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, and friends.
A Memorial Service is scheduled, Friday, August 6, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. in Boulevard Christian Church, 1700 W. Shawnee St. Muskogee,OK.
