Obituary

Joseph Blaise Motte "Joe", devoted husband and father, was born to Charles and Elizabeth Motte on October 4, 1928 in Okmulgee, OK. He departed this life on September 10, 2018.

Joe received his primary education from Southwest School in Okmulgee. He graduated from Uganda Martyrs Catholic School.

Joe married the love of his life, Mary Motte on February 20, 1954. They were blessed to spend 64 years together and their union produced 6 children – Linda, Jerry, Michael, Richard, Mary Elizabeth and Nita.

He served his country in the United States Army for 22 years, retiring as Master Sergeant in 1969. He received the Bronze Star in Vietnam. He then worked for Safeway grocery store as a butcher for many years until his retirement.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers – Everett, Charles, Herman, Leon and Lawrence, his sisters – Dorothy, Hazel, Helen and Ethel and his daughters – Linda and Mary Elizabeth (infant). He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Mary, sons – Jerry (Vickie) of Oklahoma City,OK, Michael (Shirley) of Arlington, TX, Richard (Janet) of Forney, TX, daughter – Nita of Oklahoma City, OK, 10 grandchildren (Danneva, Candice, Crystal, Charmaine, Brandon, DeLantay, Toron, Corey, Jessica and Marcus) , his sisters – Sister Brenda Motte of Maryland, Bernice McMillan of California and Eunice Jackson of California, several great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. His nephew, Dwayne Motte and his wife Jean were like a son and daughter to him and they loved and provided him with excellent care, love and laughs for several years, thru his final days.

A Funeral Mass is scheduled Friday, September 14, 2018, 10:00 a.m., Uganda Martyrs Catholic Church, 303 E. 3rd Street, Okmulgee, OK; with interment to follow in Ft. Gibson National Cemetery. Military Honors performed by Ft. Sill honors team.

Visitation Thursday, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.. A Rosary is scheduled at 7:00 p.m. at Uganda Martyrs Catholic Church.

The family has been cared for by House of Winn Funeral Home.
