Obituary

On September 27, 1960, a handsome baby boy was born to Calvin Sharp Swift and Catherine (Harrison) Swift in Muskogee, OK. They named him Joseph Anthony Swift. At an early age, Joe gave his life to Christ at Macedonia Baptist Church in Muskogee, OK. He attended Dubois Elementary School in Summit, OK, and Muskogee public schools. He graduated with the Muskogee High School, Class of 1978, where he was a member of the track team, breaking the record in the 400-meter relay.

After graduating, he moved to Delaware and fulfilled his childhood dream of becoming a truck driver for over 40 years. He was most recently employed at Fabstone Freight Service in Melissa, TX. He enjoyed traveling the highways all over the United States.

In May of 2019, he married Cheryl Tucker, and they became one and made their home in Allen, TX. They loved going on cruises, travelling to different destinations in the states and abroad, enjoying life to the fullest. They shared many road trips together in his company big wheeler; she was his administrative assistant on the road!

In 2020, Joe and Cheryl united with The McKinney First Baptist Church and became active members under the leadership of Pastor Louis Rosenthal. Joe was active in several ministries in the church and especially enjoyed singing with the Men's Chorus.

Joe was always the life of the party! In his spare time, he loved watching sports as a Dallas Cowboys fan, growing his plants, knowing everything about cars, going to car shows, honing his BBQ skills, playing Phase 10 with his mother-in-law, and being "The Domino King" to his home boys. He always enjoyed spending quality time with his family, loved going to the shooting range with his son, Jerome, enjoyed the long talks with his son, Austin and had great joy spending time with his great-nephew Tyler, with whom he loved to wrestle when he spent the weekends with Uncle Joe Joe and Auntie Cheryl.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Catherine Swift; sister, Jacquelyn Scott; brother-in-law, Leroy Edwards; sister-in-law, Letha Swift; and nephew, Cornelius DeWayne Swift.

Waiting to celebrate a joyous reunion in Heaven are his wife and soulmate, Cheryl Swift of the home; children, Jerome Swift, Joseph (Natoya) Swift II, Jeremy Swift, Sabrina (Andrew) Moore, and Austin Moore; grandchildren, Jayden Swift, Daniel Swift, and Mayson Dynes; siblings, Reverend James (Joyce) Harrison, Osie Winn, Shirley (Warren) Roy, Sheila Woeger, Reverend Jeremiah Swift, Dr. Francine Swift, Kathryn (Tommy) McGriff, Calva Edwards, and Sharon Swift-Russell; sisters-in-law, Natacha (William) Austin, Benita Breshers, Valerie Tucker, and Lolita Tucker; brothers-in-law, Benjamin A.
