Joseph Anthony Varano, age 77, a resident of Hulbert, OK; transitioned Tuesday, October 24, 2017, surrounded by his loving family in Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center, Muskogee, OK.
Joe was a self-made man, electronic engineer, business man, entrepreneur, real estate investor, teacher, and extremely hard worker. He owned six businesses over the years, notably Reliable Electronics Sales and Service and the Mingo 31 Lounge. He was the father of two children. They learned responsibility and hard work from their father. As a result, they both went on to have several successful businesses themselves and were able to flourish in life.
In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He purchased a piece of land on Fort Gibson Lake and built a retirement home for himself and his wife. He designed and built all the cabinets, vanities and furniture by hand for his dream home.
He was preceded in death by his wife Darlene Edwards Varano, his Mother Olga Botto Schnopp and Father C. Vito Varano. He is survived by his Daughter, Debbie Varano Hudson and Ronald of Wesley Chapel, Florida; his Son, Joseph A. "Tony" Varano, Jr. of Catoosa; Debbie Edwards Clanton and Rob of Skiatook; Michael Edwards of Tulsa and Randy Edwards and Connie of Great Falls, Montana. A sister, Ann Marie Varano and niece, Madison Rose Varano of New Bern, North Carolina. Grand-Children, Jessica Reitz and G. Robbie Meeks, III; Joseph "Anthony" Varano, III and Nathan A. Varano; Amber Clanton West and Shaun Clanton and Jamie of Conway, Arkansas. Great-Grand Children, George R. Meeks, IV; Maverick West; Jackson and Westyn Edwards. And he has four grand children and 12 great grand children in Tampa Bay, Florida.
A Graveside Service with full military honors is scheduled Monday, October 30, 2017, 1:00 p.m., National Cemetery, Ft. Gibson, OK, Chaplain Derrick Horne will officiate.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 29, 2017, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., House of Winn Funeral Home Precious Memories Chapel, 2200 Military Blvd, Muskogee, OK.
