Obituary

Joyce attended East High School in Wichita, KS; where she graduated with her high school diploma. Following graduation, Joyce met and married George Dozier Sr. on February 26, 1974. They moved from Wichita to Vernon, Oklahoma, where they loved and raised their children. They were known for owning Mr. G's of Vernon, the local "Juke Joint" and being farmers/ranchers. Joyce worked at Hanna School, as an aid, the Vernon Post Office as the Postmaster and finally as the Post Master Relief of Hanna, OK; where she retired. She later moved to Arlington, TX. During that time she was able to establish a relationship with her biological father, Wilbert Battle and other siblings from Arizona. Joyce lived with her daughters in Arlington until her final days.

Joyce was the most wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. She always had an open ear willing to listen without judgement and would give anything to help a person in need. She found joy in many things including music and signing, spending time with her immediate family, traveling to visit extended family and giving personal gifts to people, such as handmade quilts or blankets. She was also known to be the best cook around according to the many friends and family that ever tasted her cooking. Her grandchildren would say that she was always teaching them something new and spoiling them rotten and they loved her dearly.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband George on July 26, 2000; her mother Grace and her father, Azrow.

She leaves many to mourn her passing, including her loving children, son, George Dozier, Jr., daughters, Christina Dozier, Ceritha Dozier, Bonnie Dozier-Singletary (Corie), Rebecca Dozier, Stephanie Dozier-Martinez (Edgar), Doritha Dozier, niece, Jamie Allen, four sisters, Ja'Nice Miller, Gwendolyn Moore, Rhonda Battle, Kimberly Battle, eight brothers, Azrow Moore, Jr. (Alma), LaVester Moore (Angela), John Moore (Claudette), Vincent Moore, Darryl Moore, Michael Battle, Thomas Battle, Todd Battle, her father, Wilbert Battle, ten grandchildren, Earl Dumas III, Terrin Dumas (Kyndra), Donovan Dumas, Janessa, Tiyana, Mattilyn, George Dozier III, Sade, Kalani and Dallas, sisters-in-law, Mattie (Ken) and Juanita, brother-in-law, Jerry and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
