Juanita
Crawford
July 28, 1930 – June 11, 2017
At the age of 86 years old, Juanita Crawford, our loving Mother/Grandmother surrendered to the will of God on Sunday evening June 11, 2017.
Juanita was born July 28, 1930 to Wyatt Curtis LeFlore and Marion Woods-LeFlore. Juanita attended school and grew up in New Hope, Oklahoma. In 1946 Juanita LeFlore married Napoleon Crawford. They shared 58 years of marriage before God called him home in 2004. Six children were born to the Crawford family.
For years Juanita was an active member of First Baptist Church of Summit where she confessed her faith in Christ and was baptized by Reverend H. P. Anthony.
The glue that kept everybody together, Juanita spent many years as an effective homemaker, teaching her children as well as grandchildren valuable life skills and principals. She also worked part time outside the home.
Throughout the years her children observed her diligence at gardening. "Granny", affectionately known by family and friends, enjoyed celebrating special events and milestones with her family. Delicious turkey and dressing and her marvelous potato salad quickly became traditional holiday foods. We especially admired the way she faithfully remembered all of our birthdays with a card and a five-dollar bill inside. She was our "Goose" (Mother Goose was the name Dad gave her). Loved, known and highly respected in the community, Goose would make regular phone calls to friends near and far.
Juanita B. Crawford was preceded in death by her husband, Napoleon; an infant son, Theodore; her parents and five brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memory five daughters: Florence Givens; Pamela (James) Dossett; Belinda Crawford; Naomi Robbins; and Tetrazena Richardson; her sister in law (Napoleon's Twin) Navoulia Tolbert; Grandchildren: Felicia (Michael) Johnson, Shezare Tolliver, Myehsha (Joseph) Boone, James Dossett III, LaQuayne Wright, Gerald Wright Jr., Cassidy Dossett, Lloyd Richardson Jr., Jason S. Robbins and Elliott Robbins; Great-grandchildren are Kirby (Alondo) Edwards, Stephen Tolliver, Taylor Mills, Savaughn Tolliver, LaQuez Morris, Kaila Wright, Lauryn Wright, Hailey Wright, JacQuez Boone, Joshua Boone, Laike Wright, Jason J. Robbins, Amari Robbins; one great-great grandchild, Sierra Coleman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
