Katherine S.
Hall
November 13, 1925 – January 2, 2018
On November 13, 1925, a baby girl, the 2 nd of seven children, was born to Hattie Bell Davis Manns and Samuel Manns. They named her Katherline Savannah. However, everyone called her Katherine. Some of her dearest and closest family members and friends called her "Lean", "Rine", or "Kat".
Katherine accepted the Lord at an early age and attended church initially at Wilson Chapel in Coweta, Oklahoma, then later changed her membership to Jackson Grove Baptist Church, also in Coweta.
Katherine graduated from Manual Training High School and went to work as live-in help for the Hunsecker family in Broken Arrow, OK. During this time she honed her homemaking skills. She always talked about how kind this family was to her and the beautiful gifts they would buy for her. She also talked about their son who worked in Hollywood, California. She would excitedly tell stories about some of his rich and famous friends who came to visit and how much they all enjoyed her cooking. (Note: The Hunsecker's son was Ralph Blane, an Oscar nominated lyricist, who among other songs, co-wrote "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas").
On August 18 th , 1952, Katherine married Henry David Hall, Sr. and to this loving union six children were born: Virginia, Wilma, David Jr., Laura, Carmela, and Gary Sr. They were married for 52 years until Henry's passing in 2004.
After she married Henry, she stayed at home as a full time wife and mother and created a solid Christian home environment for her children. During this time the family changed their church membership to Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Muskogee, OK. She actively served the church under three pastors, Rev H.V. Houston, followed by Rev J.A. Reed, Sr. and then the current pastor, her youngest child, Rev. Gary Hall, Sr. She was proud to say "My son is also my Pastor". During her 50 plus years as a church member, she served as a Deaconess, Girls Auxiliary (GA) leader, Sunday School teacher, worked on the Mission Board and Pastor's Aid committee.
Katherine had many talents, including being a great cook (the grandchildren loved her lemon pound cake), seamstress (she made beautiful Easter dresses for her 4 young daughters), hairdresser (necessary for those 4 daughters), disciplinarian (necessary for those 2 sons), accountant (she expertly budgeted the money from her husband's paycheck to feed and clothe a family of eight, pay the bills on time, eventually pay the mortgage off, consistently have 2 vehicles - her husband needed that truck, send her children to college, and still faithfully tithe).
Katherine had a beautiful smile, a giving heart, and a strong Christian faith. She was always friendly and never met a stranger. She peacefully transitioned from this life on January 2 nd surrounded by people who loved and cared for her.
Katherine was preceded in death by her mother and father and all of her siblings, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Katherine was also preceded in death by her oldest two children, Virginia and Wilma, and it took a piece of her heart, as no parent desires to live longer than their child. But she always understood that God does not give us any burden we cannot bear.
She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Rev. Gary D. (Sandra) Hall, Sr. of Muskogee, OK; Henry David (Karen) Hall, Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK; two daughters, Laura B. (Dale) Bell of McKinney, TX; Carmela E. (Loring) Harkey of Bellevue, NE. Eleven grandchildren, Derrick Hall, Henry (Jessica) Hall III, Teyah Ingram, Jasmine (Andrew) Hersey, Theo Hardimon III, Cory Bell, Cody Bell, Bethany Hall, Loriana Harkey, Gary Hall, Jr. and Caelon Harkey. Six great-grandchildren, Alexis and Alexandria Currant, Nathan Widder, Jace Hardimon, Isaiah and Kendall Hall. Three sister-in-laws, Esther Manns of Wichita, KS; Martha Hall of Los Angeles, CA; Ruth Hall of Tulsa, OK; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends to cherish her memory.
The children of Katherine also would like to acknowledge and thank Deyon Turner, Aretha Brown, and Teresa Turner. They were angels who tenderly cared for our mother when her health had declined.
Also Gary's sisters and brother are so grateful for him and the way he handled our mother's affairs, the time he spent caring for her and praying with her every day. Gary - WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH for what you did for her! We also want to thank his wife Sandy for standing by him and helping him during those difficult days.
"She made it to the New Year of 2018 and then went on to rest in Jesus's arms"
