Katherine
Younger
August 20, 1936 – March 18, 2018
Katherine Younger was born on August 20, 1936, to the late, Bea and Pearlie Carter of Boynton, Oklahoma. She was the third child born to this union. Both parents preceded her in death, along with her siblings, Helen, Rachel, Bertie Mae, James and Eddie.
Katherine was raised in Boynton, OK. She attended Wheatley Public Schools. She later became a housekeeper, homemaker and domestic engineer.
Katherine fell in love with Lloyd Younger, Sr. of Boynton, OK. They were united in Holy Matrimony in September of 1956. Together they were blessed with eight children. Katherine's greatest passion was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Katherine loved the Lord and was a faithful and devoted member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church from an early age. During the absence of a pastor, she remained faithful. Finally, under the leadership of Pastor Anthony M. Folks, she served in various capacities, as a member of the Mission board and although she was not the pastor she was a good steward helping the church stay its course. Katherine may have had some shortcomings and limitations but she had a small voice that was a force to be reckoned with, as it came to the Word of God. She stood for righteousness.
Early on the Sunday morning of March 18, 2018, Katherine Got Up! Headed to Glory. She longed to reunite with her husband, her parents, her daughter, Patsy Younger and grandson, LeMorris Walton, three sisters and two brothers, after her work on this earth was Done! Her FAITH has made her whole.
She leaves to continue her legacy, her seven children, Mary Carter of Tulsa, OK; Bobby Younger, Kathy Gaines, Sheila Antwine of Boynton, OK; Lloyd Younger, Jr., Coweta, OK; Preston and Jamie Younger of Tulsa, OK; her sister, Lorene Howell of Boynton, OK; brothers, Johnny, Raymond, and Edward Carter all of Detroit, MI; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A Home Going Celebration will be conducted Saturday, March 24, 2018, 11:00 a.m., Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 125 N 1st St., Boynton, OK with pastor Anthony Folks eulogizing. Interment will follow in Lee Cemetery, Boynton, OK.
