Kelvin Wayne Mitchell, Sr. Was born September 14, 1954 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Bell Mitchell, Jr. And Mary Lena (Jones) Mitchell. He was the youngest child of four boys.

Kelvin received his formal education in Okmulgee. He enlisted in the United States Army and served his country honorably until he was discharged.

He met Darlene Smith at a beauty school. They married May 18, 1992 and started a family later that year. Kelvin Sr. loved his family. He was a "Jack of All Trades" doing what he could to support them.  His children were his heart, Jasmine, Kelvin Jr., Shawn, Keisha and Shaun.

Kelvin Sr. was an avid comedian amongst his family and friends. He also loved his music, still listening to his 8 track player until he couldn't. He always wanted to go fishing.

He passed away, July 29, 2023.

Preceding him in death are his parents and son, Kelvin Jr. and his brothers.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Darlene, Okmulgee, OK; Jasmine Mitchell Stills (Lewis) Okmulgee, OK; Shawn Mitchell, Tulsa, OK; Keisha Smith, Tulsa, OK; and Shaun Bickham, New Hampshire, 4 grandchildren along with other family and friends that will miss him dearly.

A private Graveside Service at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery is scheduled.

The Mitchell family has been cared for by House of Winn Funeral Home-Okmulgee.
