On March 26, 1986, a baby was born to Lydia Renne Russell and Ferdinand Owens in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They named him Kenton DeAnte` Owens.

Kenton's earthly journey began in Taft, Oklahoma, where he grew up with bicycles and lasting friends. While yet a baby, his mother presented him back to God and Kenton was baptized at the Flipper Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church (Taft) where he continued his spiritual journey.

Being surrounded with a loving family, and raised in the home of grandparents, Kenton knew he had the best "Grandma Bea" and "Papa Bub." He grew up in the church participating in youth activities and the Youth Choir.

Kenton's first school experience started with Muskogee Head Start then, Boynton Elementary and Boynton-Moton High School, Boynton, Oklahoma. Kenton loved sports, especially basketball. He played for the Boynton Cardinals. Upon High School graduation, his love for sports and desire to play basketball led him to enroll at Carl Albert Junior College, Poteau, OK; and later to Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, OK.

Kenton's marks on his life were a soft-spoken voice and quiet mannerisms. He made many friends and had several mentors; Coach Sherick Jones, Bryan Dorn, a cousin, Ben Tart and a uncle, Bryan Robinson all encouraged him to always be honest and do your best.

His transition from this earthly journey came on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at St. John Medical Center, Tulsa, OK.
