Larry James Escoe, 68, laborer, a resident of Checotah, OK; passed away, Saturday, May 2, 2015 in his home.

Larry James Escoe was born on November 20, 1946 in Checotah, Oklahoma to General Escoe Sr. and Ida B. Perkins. He was the second of ten children.

Larry attended Douglass and graduated from Rentiesville High School. He graduated at the top of his class. After his formal education he joined Job Corps, where he learned a trade as an electrician, and then started his apprenticeship. He attended Connors State College as well as Northeastern State University.

Larry accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of Full Gospel Church and was a minister, where he worked diligently for many years.

He met and married Clara Burch, this union lasted 16 years. Larry also met and married Ada Lee Bowens, and they were married a year.

James went home to be with the Lord, May 2, 2015.

Preceding him in passing are his parents, wife, and brother, Ralph Escoe.

Those that remain to cherish his memory are his children, Wanzetta Murphy, Sandra (Charles) Wright, Ronny Hall, and Carolyn Bowens, his siters and brothers, Nancy Escoe, Cozette Jackson, Ann (Vincent) McPherson, LaNorma (Willie) Dan, General (Vicki) Escoe Jr., Saundra Escoe, Dianne Escoe and Elaine Escoe, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, 2 special friends, Brian Collard and Eddie Palmer, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss him.

A Service of Memory,Saturday, May 9, 2015, 11:00 a.m., Eastside First Baptist Church, 411 Northeast 4th Street, Checotah, OK. Cremation will follow.

Visitation will be Friday, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

The family has been cared for by Granger-House of Winn Funeral Home.
