Obituary

LaVander Leon Hammon, Jr. was born August 16, 1990 in Okmulgee, OK; he was the fourth child born to LaVander Hammon and Michelle McCargo.

LaVander accepted Christ at the early age of eight at New Salem Baptist Church, Okmulgee, OK.

He attended William Penn and Wright Elementary, Tulsa, OK; and graduated from Okmulgee High School with the Class of 2008.  He continued his education at OSU-IT, Okmulgee, OK; and Langston University, Langston, OK.

"TJ" as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, loved cars, computers and any electronics he could get his hands on.  As a child TJ, loved to play football and take his toys apart just to put them back together again.  TJ had a talent for fixing electronics.  He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, listening to music, eating snacks, chocolate and giving his loved one his own opinionated advice.  He was young in the flesh but a spiritually seasoned and wise soul.

As time passed, TJ had his mind set on being an entrepreneur.  He was a well-rounded individual who strived and worked to anything he put his mind to.  He was a hard worker and very independent.  In his childhood until he became an adult he was passionate about helping people in any way he could. This prompted TJ to establish his own business, "Cargo Roadside."

Preceding TJ in death are his paternal great grandmother, Ollie Wishous Hammon, maternal grandmother, Shirley McCargo, paternal grandmother, Carolyn Hammon-Davis, aunts, LaTonna McCargo, LaDonna McCargo and Betty Littlejohn.

Those left to cherish his memory include, his mother, Michelle McCargo, father, Lavander Hammon, Sr., grandparents, James (Joyce) Hill, Charles (Mona) Selmon, his siblings, Teihahnietuh, Taryn, Gabrielle, Skylar, Ke'onte, D'eonte, nephews, Jaden, Christopher and Aryss, his honorary brother, Tre' McKnight, along with a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends that will miss him dearly.

A Home Going Service is scheduled Saturday, March 25th, 2017, 1:00 p.m., First Baptist Church, 311 W. Fifth Street, Okmulgee, OK., with Elder Rahe A. Orr, eulogizing.  Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Okmulgee, OK.

Visitation Friday, 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
