Linda Kaye
Norwood
December 28, 1956 – October 20, 2024
Linda Kaye Norwood was Born December 28th 1956, to Maxine Norwood and James Norwood . She was the 4th of 9 children.
She was affectionately known as "Kaye Dog' or Blob" by those who loved her most. Growing up in Reeves Addition, she attended Langston Elementary, Sadler Middle School, and Muskogee High School where she graduated with the class of 1976.
As a young woman Linda Kay loved to read. You could always find her snuggled up somewhere with a good book. She loved kids and it was very apparent as many entrusted her with the responsibility of babysitting throughout her teens. As an adult, she was a dedicated worker at Broadway Manor Nursing Home. While working as a laundry aide, she met her best friend Sheila Titsworth. You could not tell them they were not "Thelma and Louise." Linda was an outgoing, energetic woman. The kindness of her spirit matched her energy and it showed in how she showered that love on those around her. She loved playing dominoes and you could not tell her she wasn't the "Queen of Dominoes". She would always let you know that she had arrived or was in the building with her signature shout out of "EEEEEEEEEEYYUPPPP!"
While living life, she met the father of her children, David "Wayne" Poke, from this union, in September of 1990, she would give birth to a healthy baby boy, Dawaan James Norwood and a year later, she gave birth again to a set of twins whom she named Nicole Janell and Nickolas Jazz.
In 2011, Linda's health began to decline. This medical journey in her life would include 14 years of dialysis. Her health presented many struggles.
However, those struggles would pale in comparison to the life changing event of losing her baby boy, Nickolas Jazz, in 2022. On Sunday, October 20th 2024, Linda Kaye was met at the gates of Heaven by her son, Nickolas with open arms. Where she peacefully took her rest.
Linda Kaye leaves to cherish her memory; her son, Dawaan Norwood (Lawton); her daughter, Nicole Norwood (Muskogee); three grandchildren : Kylan Sallis, JazzLynn Nickole & Nickolas Jr., five sisters :Tonette Stanford (Wichita KS); Wyvette Reeves (OKC); Hope Mayes (Tulsa); Kimberly Norwood (Memphis TN); and Tina Norwood (Muskogee); three brothers: Ronnie (Wanda) Norwood ( Muskogee ); Walter Norwood (Toledo OH); and Jerry Norwood (Tulsa OK);, Uncle Sammie (Margo) Stanford (Muskogee); special friends, Sheila Titsworth and Latarsha Loggins, along with a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
