Lucille Wright-Murrell: A Legacy of Love and Matriarchy

On July 2, 1932, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, a remarkable journey began with the birth of Lucille Massey, daughter of proud parents Sam and Lucy Massey. Her life was a tapestry of love, entrepreneurship, and community service, woven with the values of family and faith.

Married to Homer E. Wright, Lucille co-piloted a life of pioneering spirit and partnership. Together, they ventured into the business world, establishing one of Muskogee's first black-owned restaurants and clubs. This venture was not just a business but a community hub, a testament to their dedication and visionary leadership.

The couple's union was blessed with three children: Timothy, Mustafah (Charles), and Denise. Their home was a nurturing ground for love, wisdom, and resilience. Lucille's role as a mother was her crowning glory, raising her children with an abundance of love and strong values.

After Homer's passing, Lucille found love again and married ODellas Murrell, embracing his last name and beginning a new chapter in her life. Her capacity to love and nurture extended beyond her immediate family. Lucille was a matriarch and maternal figure to many, offering her heart and home to those in need, earning her the affectionate title of 'Mother' from many who were not her biological kin.

Among her simple pleasures, Lucille cherished dining at Golden Corral, where the variety and warmth echoed her own love for family gatherings and communal joy.

Lucille's legacy is a living tree, deeply rooted in the love and lessons she imparted. She was lovingly reunited in eternity with her brothers Lewis, Bennie, Marion, and children Mustafah (Charles) and Denise. Her legacy continues through her son Timothy, and cherished grandchildren Maurice, Charles, Earenest, Charlesetta, Laquane, Rodney, Wynter, and her great-grandchildren Maurice, Kimberly, Lauren, Earenest III, Jermany, Jaelyn, Essence, Audrey, Jabrion, Jamarielle, Jeremiah, Javen, Jaibre, and Pharyn Yah, as blossoms of her enduring love.

As we bid farewell to Lucille Wright-Murrell, we celebrate a life richly lived and generously given. She was a beacon of strength, love, and compassion, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations. Lucille's journey on earth has concluded, but her spirit and love live on, etched in the hearts of those she touched.

In loving memory, we honor Lucille's extraordinary life, cherishing the moments shared and lessons learned. Her memory will forever be a guiding light, leading us with the wisdom of her love and the strength of her legacy.
