Marian Jean
Hankins
September 5, 1942 – July 2, 2021
Marian Jean Williams-Hankins, or Pat as she was fondly called, was born on September 5, 1942, in Haskell, OK; the third child of Gilloe and Corene Williams. She attended Elementary School in Boynton, OK and later attended Manual Training High School in Muskogee where she marched in the band as a majorette. After graduating high school in 1960 she attended nursing school and received her LPN License.
Marian met and married Ollie Hankins on January 10, 1962, and they moved to Palo Alto, CA. To this union they were blessed with three children. The marriage did not last, and they divorced in 1982, she never re-married. Marian loved her children and loved to read her novels. She was a crossword puzzle enthusiast and she enjoyed spending time at the casino where she frequently won.
Marian accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and attended Little Rose Baptist Church. She was a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Muskogee where she was active in the women's mission and taught Sunday School. Later in life she became a member of Vision of Faith in Broken Arrow where she was an Usher and taught Sunday School. She retired from the VA Hospital in 2008 where she worked in administration. She was also an active member of Blacks in Government.
Marian was called to her heavenly home on July 2, 2021.
Preceding her in death are her parents, a brother Clyde Williams, and a sister Verniece 'Tiny' Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her memory daughters Tracey Sanders and Kimberly Hankins, a son Mitchell Hankins all of Tulsa, OK; three grandchildren Talore Sanders Tulsa OK; Nick Sanders Dallas, TX; and Sydney Jackson Tulsa, OK. A sister, Dorothy James Muskogee, OK and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Home Going Celebration will be conducted, Friday, July 9,2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Precious Memories Chapel of House of Winn Funeral Home-Muskogee, with Rev. Gregory Fields, eulogizing. Interment will follow in Booker T. Washington cemetery. Public visitation, Thursday, in Precious Memories Chapel during the hours of 1:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M.
