Mary Malone Motte was born October 6, 1930 in Albany, Georgia to the late Ozell Malone and Martha Malone Kelson. Later, her stepfather, Sam Kelson (Mr. Sam), helped to raise her and was a major influence in her life. Mary loved God, her family and her friends but most of all she loved life.  She was a member of Uganda Martyrs Catholic Church where she celebrated her life with her fellow parishioners.  She was surrounded by her family when she was called home on August 3, 2019.

She met the love of her life, Joseph B Motte, in Fayetteville NC when he was in the Army and they married on February 20, 1954. They had 6 children – Linda, Jerry, Michael, Richard, Mary Elizabeth and Nita.

It is difficult being a military wife, but Mary thoroughly embraced it. Joe commented that he could not have accomplished what he did in his military career if not for Mary. She traveled with him around the world, with children in tow, by car or ship, making sure all the children and belongings arrived safely.  She taught herself to sew and loved making clothes for herself and her family.  She also enjoyed cooking (boy could she cook) and it pleased her knowing people appreciated her food.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Joe B. Motte, her parents, her sisters Louise Watson, Martha Malone Cook, and her daughters Mary Elizabeth Motte and Linda Joyce Motte. She leaves to cherish her memory her sister Mildred Arrington of Fayetteville NC, her daughter Nita of Oklahoma City, OK, her sons, Jerry (Vickie) of Oklahoma City, OK, Michael (Shirley) Arlington, TX, Richard (Janet) Forney, TX, 10 grandchildren, Danneva, Candice, Crystal, Charmaine, Brandon, DeLantay, Toron, Corey, Jessica and Marcus, her nephew Dwayne Motte and his wife Jean whom were like Son and Daughter to her.

Funeral mass will be celebrated, Thursday, August 8, 2019, at 10 a.m. in Uganda Martyrs Catholic Church, followed by interment in Ft. Gibson National Cemetery.  The rosary will be recited, Wednesday, at 7 p.m. in the church.

Visitation will be Wednesday in the Precious Memories chapel, during the hours of 1:00 p.m. until 6 p.m.

The family has been cared for by House of Winn-Okmulgee.
