Reflection of Life

On December 14, 1942, Joseph Lee Reason and Abbie Lee (Byrd) Reason was blessed with a beautiful baby girl whom they named, Mary Lee. Mary was a joyful addition to her four siblings. She was dearly loved and protected by them, although she always acted like she was the boss of them.

Mary accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age while attending church at Tuskegee Baptist Church. After moving to Okmulgee she became a member of First Baptist Church under Reverend Preston W. Jackson, where she served faithfully in several capacities until she became ill.

In 1962 Mary gave birth to her only child, Sheila Ann Martin. Shelia was her child, her best friend and later in life her caretaker that remained by her side until her transition to her heavenly home.

Mary loved her family and always opened her home to family, friends and even to strangers. She was a faithful member of the Okmulgee City Wide Prayer Band. She was also a member of the Red Hatters Club, which she truly enjoyed the sisterhood that ban them together and she loved the fellowship they provided.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Abbie Reason, two brothers, Emerson Penn Sr. and Frank Barnett.

She leaves to cherish her memories her only child, Sheila Ann Martin, of Okmulgee, Ok. one brother, Joseph (Kay) Reason of Oklahoma City, Ok. and one sister Joann Mangum of Okmulgee, Ok. She also leaves a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends whom she loved dearly.
