Obituary

On September 23rd, 1952 in Muskogee, OK a baby boy was born to Quincy and Bessie White, they named him Melvin Chandler White aka (Chan). Melvin received his education from Booker T. Washington Elementary and graduated from Haskell High School in May 1970.

Melvin met and married Elizabeth Ann Parker on September 20th 1973 in Miami, OK. To this union 3 children were born, Marlow, Mario, and Marlon White. They started their family in Haskell, OK and spent 42 wonderful years together.

Melvin knew God at an early age and attended church and Sunday School with his family. He worked as a farmer all his life and was employed in Taft, OK as a Supervisor with Oklahoma Children Center. He worked with Muskogee County District #3 as a Road Grater, Welder for Zeligson for approximately 10 years and retired from Elliot. Melvin also served on Haskell's School Board for 10 years. He loved roping, rodeos, and sports.

Melvin was an active Deacon at The Church of The Living God CWFF in Muskogee, OK under the leadership of Elder Oscar G. Higgs III.

The Lord called Melvin home on April 29th, 2016. He is preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Opal Debose White and brother, Stanley Trent White.

Melvin will be truly missed, he will be remembered for his smile, jokes, hard work, encouraging words, and helping others. He shared the word of God with family, friends, and peers.

God saw the road was getting rough and hills were getting harder to climb. He gently closed his loving eyes and whispered (PEACE BE THINE). He left his beautiful memory for those who knew and loved him. It will never grow old.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Elizabeth of 42 years of the home. His sons, Marlow of the home, Mario and Crystal of Owasso, Marlon and Amy of Haskell; 6 grandkids, Alexia, Terrin, Talon, Neveah, Jarred (Roper) and Chandlyr (Chan Chan), father, Quincy White of Haskell, OK; 8 siblings, Calvin (Carolyn) White of Broken Arrow, OK, Alvin White of Haskell, OK Quindella (Charles) Thompson of Muskogee, OK, Christine (John Floyd) Sheppard of Muskogee, OK, Anita White of Haskell, OK, Debra White of Dallas, TX, Beverly White of Muskogee, OK. A host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Melvin loved his family and friends so much, his kindness and passion for life will be missed by all his love ones.

A Home Going Service is scheduled for Friday, May 6, 2016, 2:00 p.m., First Baptist Church, 1401 N. Haskell Blvd., Haskell, OK; with Elder Oscar Higgs III, eulogizing. Interment will follow in Haskell City Cemetery, Haskell, OK.

Visitation will be Thursday, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
