Nadine Sanders, 83, retired LPN, and a resident of Okmulgee, OK., surrounded by family passed away in her home on Monday, June 1, 2015.
Nadine was born to Robbie and Frank Manuel, January 23, 1932. She was one of eleven children. Over the years, she was fondly referred to as: Duke, Nadie and GraGra.
Nadine was a founding member of St Mary's Christian Center where she was active in the Daughters of Zion Missionaries, finance department, and member of the Board of Directors.
Nadine attended Rosenwald High School, and later at the age of 40 put herself through nursing school, where she graduated with honors from Okmulgee Technical College. She twice retired from Okmulgee Medical Hospital where she worked many years as an LPN in the new born nursery and delivery room, and other areas of the hospital. She was also an active member of the IBPO Elks of the World and Eastern Star.
Nadine went home to be with the Lord, the first day of June 2015.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, daughter (Robbie Brown), spouse (Norman Cole), two sisters (Rethola, and Frankie Cazenave), four brothers (Loyns, Joseph, Billy Joe and Robert "Burt" Manuel), and grandson (Derik Miller).
Nadine is survived by sisters: Joan Early, San Bernardino, California, Shirley Moten, Norman, Oklahoma, Mary Ellen Jordan, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Carolyn Goynes, Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Daughters: Brenda Carter of Bartlesville (Darrell Carter), Sharon Woodruff of Okmulgee and Audrey Burton of Tulsa (William White). Grandchildren: Erik Miller, Rachelle Miller, Billy Woodruff, Jr., Earnest Woodruff I, LaTrina Brown, Dara Brown, Tikisha Fagbemi, Adrian Mangum and Taj'Unique Owens, twenty great -grandchildren, three great- great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, three very close friends: Geraldine Johnson (57 years), Wilma Barnett and Helen Cannon and a multitude of other family and friends.
Home Going Celebration, will be held Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in St Mary's Christian Center, 710 N.Hillman St. Okmulgee, OK.
Interment to follow in Sharps Memorial Garden.
Visitation will be Friday, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
The family has been cared for by House of Winn Funeral Home.
