Naomi Bates Oakley, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed from this life on Monday, November 3, 2025 at the age of 86.
She was born January 3, 1939. Naomi lived a full life marked by strength, resilience and a steadfast spirit. She met life's challenges head-on and carried herself with courage and determination. Her presence was felt by all who knew her. Her legacy of perseverance will continue through her family.
Her name Naomi, means "Pleasant One"-and she was bold in her own beautiful way. She was pleasant when it mattered most. She was always real with those she loved.
She is preceded in death by her parents Bill Bates and Charles Morris (stepfather), her mother, Lovie Morris, her sister, Ruth Jackson and her great-granddaughter Mya Oakley.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Michael Oakley and Troy Oakley, one sister, Lovie McGee, one brother Robert Bates, three grandsons, Michael Jr., Terrance and Kendrick, her great-grandchildren, Ebony, Michael III, Elijah, Dehjah, Braiden, Eli, Dedrick, Malakye, Jeremiah, Elias and Isaac, honorary grandchildren, Rema, Jerron, Kayla and Briana along with other relatives and friends.
A Home Going Service is scheduled, Saturday, November 15, 2025, 11:00 a.m., 18th & Denison Church of Christ, 404 N. 18th Street, Muskogee, OK; with Bro. Eric Rodgers, delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Booker T. Washington Cemetery, Muskogee, OK.
Visitation will be Friday, November 14, 2025, 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., House of Winn-Muskogee
