Obituary

Nellie Bell Starks, 95, homemaker, a resident of Rentiesville, OK; transitioned Monday, December 14, 2015 in her home surrounded by family.

On December 14, 2015 at 4:00 a.m., once again the Angels of Death has come to claim one of our own; Mrs. Nellie Belle Starks.

Nellie was born June 13, 1920 to Dolph and Elizabeth Green McFadden in Ozan, Arkansas. She was the First of Seven children born to this union. She accepted Christ as her Lord and personal Savior at an early age. Nelllie, (later known to most as Granny) met and married the late Leam Starks, Jr. and to this union five children were born.

During WWII, she worked at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas as a welder. After her husband's discharge from the military, she moved back to Rentiesville where she worked in Taft, Oklahoma at the Women's Correctional Building. Later, she began working for Checotah Public Schools as a cook in the cafeteria. In 1981, her health began to fail causing her retirement.

Granny later began to raise flowers in her garden at Rentiesville. She quickly became everybody's Granny. She definitely had a love for children.

Granny was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Rentiesville, Oklahoma where she served regularly until her health continued to fail.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, five siblings, three children, Didly, Clifford, Sr., and William, one grandchild, and four great-grandchildren.

Granny leaves to lament her death, three children, Leam "L J" (Doneeta), Arnett Sr., (Edna), Lee Autry, and daughter-in-law, Quanta, 17 grandchildren, Cecil Cunningham-Starks, of the home, Alicia, Clifford Jr., Steve Starks, Tony Knight, Stevie, Arnett Jr., Mark, Wayne, Belinda, Leametria "Meechie", Ceatta, Cleophas, Ebony, Chelo, Tyra, Aaron, and John, 35 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, and one brother, Leroy McFadden.

Her final transition was made with her family by her side.

A Home Going Celebration will be conducted, Monday, December 21, 2015, 11:00 a.m., Eastside First Baptist Church, Checotah, OK; with Rev. Donald Brown, Sr., eulogizing. Interment will follow in Paradise Cemetery, Checotah, OK.

Visitation will be Sunday, 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

The family has been cared for by House of Winn Funeral Home & Cremations
