Obituary

Norma Walker, 69, homemaker, a resident of Wheat Ridge, CO; formerly of Muskogee, OK; transitioned Saturday, December 5, 2015.

In Muskogee, Oklahoma, on June 1, 1946 a beautiful baby girl was born to Dorine and Othelon Carter, Sr. She was given the name, Norma Jo Carter. She was the fifth of eight children born.

At a young age, she professed a love and belief in Christ and was baptized at Peter's Chapel A.M.E. Church along with her four sisters and one brother. Norma attended Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, District meetings and would also sing in the choir.

Norma grew up in Muskogee, OK; where she attended Manual Training High School, with her beauty and great personality. She was chosen as T & I Queen, which was the football Queen.

She took up Cosmetology. Norma was a honor student and graduated with honors at the age of sixteen, in 1963.

Norma pursued her education in Cosmetology and worked at the Veterans Administration in Muskogee, OK.

She enjoyed, crocheting, fishing, dancing, traveling, and playing Bingo.

Norma met and married, Eugene Doc Walker. Five children were born in this union. She and her husband drove trucks around the country for years before her health began to fail.

During her illness, Norma often read the bible and kept her faith and belief strongly in God. One scripture she liked was Romans 8:27-28

She was preceded in death by her twins (boy & girl), loving husband, loving mother and father, two sisters and one brother.

Norma leaves to cherish her memories, her children, nine sons, Joseph Eugene (Veronica) Walker, Denton, TX; Charles Kevin (Christine) Walker, Christopher Lee (Tyra) Walker, Sr. both of Denver, CO; Doug Walker, Dodge City, OK; Harold Walker and Henry Walker, both of Winfield, KS; Gerald Walker and Roy Walker, both of Arkansas City, KS; and Leslie Walker, five daughters, Mary Brooks, Kansas City, MO; Kay Cain and Karen Berry, both of Arkansas City, KS; and Lisa Hall, China, TX; sisters, Wanda Brown, San Jose, CA; Glenda Irving, Muskogee, OK; Beverly Wilson, Albuquerque, NM; and Earline Johnson, Muskogee, OK; 14 grandchildren, Joseph Eugene Walker, Jr., Jeremy Walker, Brianna Walker, Isaiah Walker, Charles Kevin Walker, Jr., Michelle Patton, Natasha Walker, Eric Walker, Kyle Doc Walker, Kevin Michael Walker, Elizabeth Walker, Danae Walker, Chance Walker, and Christopher Lee Walker, Jr., 2 great-grandchildren, Zoie Walker and Garrett Walker, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Norma was a very loving and caring person. She will be dearly missed.

A Home Going Celebration will be conducted Saturday, December 19, 2015, 11:00 a.m., Peters Chapel A.M.E. Church, 7902 W. Fern Mountain Rd., Muskogee, OK. Interment will follow in Booker T. Washington Cemetery, Muskogee, OK.

Visitation will be Friday, December 18, 2015, 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
