Oscar Chester Hill, 84, a resident of Nuyaka,OK, passed away, Tuesday, March 15, 2016 in St. Francis Medical Center, Tulsa, OK.
On March 15, 1932, in Nuyaka, Oklahoma Oscar Chester Hill was born to Donzel E. and Flora B. (Ingram) Hill. Oscar was the 15th child to his parents union as he was their youngest male child. Oscar accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age.
Oscar attended school in Nuyaka and Rosenwall, in Oklahoma. Oscar volunteered to serve in the United States Army in 5 July 1950. Private Oscar C. Hill (ASN: RA-18343960). United States Army, was held as a Prisoner of War after he was captured during the Korean War Conflict on 1 December 1950 and was held until release on 6 August 1953 after the signing of the Armistice. After his honorable discharge Oscar attended Oklahoma State Technical College earning his credentials of an Electrical Contractor.
Oscar married Geneva Willis and the moved to California and to their union were four children: Larance, Gerald, LaCoria and Sheree. Later Oscar and Evelean had two daughters, Sabrina and Lynn.
Oscar loved his children dearly and did all he could to support their endeavors. He was a positive thinking man. He loved the great outdoors. Oscar moved back to Oklahoma in the late 1980's and began his retirement.
On Tuesday evening, March 15, 2016, at 4:40PM, while at St. Frances Hospital in Tulsa, OK; after 84 years, Oscar left this life for a life eternal. His children were at his bedside.
He was preceded in death by his parents Donzel and Flora Hill, a son, LaCoria; his brothers, Harold, Elijah, Charles, Donzel Jr. and his sisters, Mae Ella, Lillie B, Bernice, Nathonis, Elizabeth, Floretha and Leona.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, five children: Larance of the home, Sheree, Gerald (Dionne), Lynn (Ken) all of California and Sabrina of Georgia; one loving baby sister, Myrtle Hill Powell, sister in law, Rebecca Hill and a special brother in law/friend/fellow prisoner of war, Roosevelt Powell; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, an enduring confidant Darrell Redeau, a special sister Deloris LeDoux;, and friends.
Sweet Rest
God did what He knew was best, He came and stood beside you and whispered "Come and Rest." God saw the road was getting rough; the hills were hard to climb. He gently closed your eyes whispered "peace be thine." The weary hours, the days of pain, the sleepless nights are passed. The ever patient worn out frame has found sweet rest at last.
A Home Going service is scheduled Monday, March 21, 11:00 a.m., New Salem Baptist Church, 1300 E. Lafayette Street, Okmulgee, OK; with Rev. Randy James, eulogizing. Inurnment will be Wednesday, March 23, 2016 10:00 a.m. in Ft. Gibson National Cemetery. Military honors performed by Ft. Sill honors team.
Visitation will be Sunday, 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
