"Jesus promised me a home, over there" Pearlie Grizzard Heard, age 76, a resident of Midwest City, OK, transitioned, Sunday, March 26, 2023.
On November 1, 1946, the Lord blessed Jessie & Eva Mae Grizzard with a precious daughter, she was given the name "Pearlie Mae." She was the sixth child born out of eight.
Pearlie Mae attended Pierce Elementary School , and Checotah High School. She later went to Nursing School in Oklahoma City where she received her LPN in 1975. She then moved to Arizona and worked at Good Samaritan Hospital several years.
Pearlie Mae met and married Albert V. Teague in 1968 and to that union four children were born. Later in 1980 she married William Marzell Heard and to that union one child was born .
She was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church as a child and was baptized at age of twelve under the leadership of Reverend George McGee. Later in life she joined Trinity Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor David Brooks. After she moved back to Muskogee, she attended church in Porter under the leadership of Anthony Gaines.
The Family members that preceded her home were her parents Jessie J. Grizzard and Eva Mae Grizzard; three sisters, Shirley, Linda, Corrine; four brothers, Jessie Jr, JB, Jerry, and Eugene; two children, oldest daughter Christine Sledge, and son Donnie Wayne Teague; grandson, Marques Teague; and one great-grandson.
She leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters, Rhonda, Tammy and Kumiko; four sons, Tony, Tracy, Albert and John; son-in-law, Allen Jolly (Coon) whom she loved dearly; thirty-one grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own; very special friend for over forty years, Sherry Edwards; son, Michael; and a Host of friends.
A Home Going Service will be held on, Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Precious Memories Chapel, House of Winn Funeral Home, 2200 Military Blvd, Muskogee, OK. Interment will follow in Warrior Cemetery, Checotah, OK.
Public visitation will be on Tuesday, April 4th in the Precious Memories Chapel, House of Winn Funeral Home-Muskogee during the hours of 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
The family has been cared for by House of Winn Funeral Home-Muskogee.
