Obituary

In the spring of 1965 on an unforgettable day, March 31st, the most beautiful baby girl was born to Florice & James Cazenave Sr. They named her Phyllis Kaye. She was a bright eyed girl with all the confidence in the world and embodied the most exuberant personality. Her father lovingly referred to her as "Catfish" and as the baby girl, she stayed right by his side whenever she had the chance.

She grew up in Okmulgee, Oklahoma with her parents and her siblings. Her life consisted of school, church, and plenty of family celebrations throughout the years. After she finished high school she was married and gave birth to her handsome son, Dwayne Joseph Hill Jr. She loved being a mother and took pride in raising her son. She later met the love of her life, Rickey Perkins. He was on active duty in the United States Army. He loved to travel with his wife, Phyllis, and they created beautiful memories together.

She began her career in the Okmulgee Public School system as a secretary and later promoted to the Board of Education and eventually became the Superintendent's Secretary bringing her to 21 years in her career. She then moved on to the Glenpool school system for 5 more years until she happily retired. All of the students and faculty that she worked with were very fond of Phyllis and they made it known each time they saw her. She impacted the youth in a positive way, always offering uplifting advice and showing them the true meaning of respect and being a good person.

Phyllis was always the LIFE of the party wherever she went and people gravitated toward her jovial spirit. She loved showering her nieces and nephews with gifts at every turn as well as being motherly to each of them. She enjoyed being a fashionista as well as being a well put together woman that could light up any room with her million dollar smile. She had an airtight relationship with each of her siblings that could never be broken.

Over time, her health began to fail and she and her husband decided to move to Edmond Oklahoma to be near her family where she could live out the rest of her years being loved and cared for. Her sun set on March 23, 2024.

Preceding her in death is her father, James Cazenave Sr.; her sister Diane Cazenave as well as her brother DeJuan Montgomery and step-father Samuel Thompson.
