Ralph Leonard
Conley
February 7, 1946 – September 1, 2017
Ralph Leonard Conley was born February 7, 1946 in Hoffman, Oklahoma. He was the third child born to Edward Conley and Maude Juanita Barnett.
Ralph was an avid reader, hat collector, and traveler. He was kind hearted, witty and devoted to the service of others. At an early age, he developed his adventurous spirit that would take him all over the world. Ralph's first opportunity to travel was through his service with the United States Army. He served in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. In the early 1970s, as a Peace Corps volunteer, Ralph traveled to Ecuador. After completing his Peace Corps service, he obtained his bachelor's degree from Langston University and his masters from the University of Washington. Inspired by Psalms 9:18, Ralph would later make a career of service as a Foreign Service Officer. For over thirty years, he worked in communities overseas with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), primarily feeding those unable to feed themselves.
Ralph's travels eventually took him to more than thirty countries. Travel enriched his life in ways that he would share with family, and friends over food and dominoes. His legacy lives on in his wife, Anna Lloyd Evans, his sister Geneva Lowe and his four children: Nathalie, Ralph Jr., Mariam and Marc, and his nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues and friends.
A Home Going Service is scheduled, Saturday, September 9, 2017, 11:00 a.m., St. Matthew Baptist Church, 1001 E. Chicago St., Okmulgee, OK. Interment will follow in Grayson Cemetery, Grayson, OK.
