Remembering Shoeboot...

Rendell Shoeboot was born to Rev. Haskell Shoeboot and Ethel Davis in Okmulgee, OK on Wednesday, May 14, 1952. As an adolescent he was baptized and grew up in Cleaves Memorial CME. Later in life he joined St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church. Rendie was an active member of the Senior Adult Choir and Brotherhood. He volunteered for many of the landscaping tasks. Shoeboot could not sit still and would be known to work odd jobs.

Rendell was a member of the Okmulgee Public Schools Class of 1971. He played football and was a softball umpire for a local community association.

Shoeboot was big on community. He never met a stranger and always made you feel welcomed. Throughout his youth he was known to be a class clown. His sense of camaraderie matured with him cooking for his friends/family later in life. An avid athlete Shoeboot would try to influence his nephews and younger siblings to catch a football, to protect themselves and how to swim.

His favorite thing was being a cowboy. When he was younger in age you could find him riding bulls in local rodeos. He was a proud member of the Ruthless Ryderz Round Up Club. They became his second family.

"Uncle Man" - as he was affectionately called by his great, great, great nephew Jayce - is predeceased by his parents, his siblings: Princella Mumford, Otis Tuggle, Marcy Majors, Hollis Tuggle and Clifford Shoeboot.

Those left to cherish his memory are sons: Tyrone (Dionne) Hood, Ty-Lee (Miranda) McCrary, Dathan McCrary, 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren. Siblings: Beatrice (Herman) Haywood, Bobbie (Roosevelt) Powell, Donald (Marie) Sims, Vickie Fultz, Patricia Davis, Mary Ann (Lee) Dean, Deborah Paige, Jo Ann Shoeboot and Rodney Davis. Sister-in-laws: Ermon and Imogean Tuggle. Along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and a special friend Tyra Harris.
