Richard Alden
Jones, Sr.
September 4, 1951 – March 27, 2025
Richard Alden Jones Sr. was born September 4,1951 in Los Angeles, California. He was the first son of George Jones and the second child of Roxye Jones.
Throughout school he enjoyed playing football and baseball. In 1969, he graduated from Compton High School in Compton California where he met the love of his life, Ivy Manuel. After high school he pursued a career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a lineman.
Richard and Ivy married and to this union three children were born. In 1981 they moved their family to Tulsa, Oklahoma. He continued his career as a lineman and became a union steward. After 19 years in Tulsa Richard and Ivy moved to Okmulgee Oklahoma. Richard never met a stranger. He was well known amongst his coworkers and the community. He loved talking to people and making people laugh. He always had a story to tell which usually entertained everyone around him. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and traveling back to California each summer to visit family and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Ivy Jones; his parents; Sisters Precious Clark and Criss Jones.
He leaves to honor his memory; Sons Richard Jones Jr. and Justin Jones; Daughter DeAnna Jones; Grandchildren Jesston Morris, Ahmani Jackson, Erin Jackson, DeAndre' Jones, Richard Jones III, Charli Jones, Samantha Armijo, Joseph Palacio; Great-Grandchildren Jessiah Morris, Jayda Morris, Khi're Jackson, Jameson Palacio, Solana Armijo; Brother Russell (Angela) Jones, Sister Harriette (George) Parker, Sister Charlotte Anderson and a host of family and friends.
A Home Going Celebration is scheduled, Saturday, April 12, 2025, 11:00 a.m., Gilcrease Hills Baptist Church, 2001 W. Newton St. Tulsa, OK; with Pastor Leron Gregory West, delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Sharps Cemetery, Okmulgee, OK.
Visitation will be Friday, April 11, 2025, 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
