Robert Moham,
Jr.
October 22, 1933 – January 29, 2018
Robert "Lemon/Jr. Babe" Moham Jr. was born October 22, 1933 in Warner/Pine Hollow, Oklahoma to Robert and Nettie Harris-Moham. He was the fourth of ten children. He went to his final resting place on Monday, January 29, 2018 in Muskogee, Ok with his family by his side.
He received his elementary education at Friendship Elementary School in Oktaha, Ok and his high school education from Dubois High School in Summit, Ok. Following graduation from high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He completed his tour of duty with an honorable discharge. He returned home to be united in holy matrimony to Jo Wanda Ross (the love of his life since ninth grade). To this union four children were born. Rodney, Terri, Rickey and Tanya. He loved his children and they so loved him with a love so fierce words cannot describe. This love resulted in two very spoiled daughters.
Robert labored many occupations during his lifetime. Raising his children was his primary labor of love. He supported and encouraged his children in all their sporting activities, educational goals and dreams. He worked in the construction industry as a general laborer or heavy equipment operator for over 40 years while also farming, raising livestock and gardening.
Coming from a family who loves God, Robert accepted Christ at the age of eight years old at St. James AME Church in Oktaha. He later united with First Baptist Church in Summit Oklahoma. He was blessed with a voice of song which he shared with others over his lifetime. His vocal tutelage was under Mrs. A. G. Owens and Mrs. C. G. Edmond. He was a soloist with a magnificent voice that was heard throughout Muskogee County.
In addition to singing in the Gospel Choir, Mass Choir and Male Chorus he was also assistant superintendent of Sunday School, a deacon, an usher and trustee. He exhibited the characteristics of a true Christian which all could only hope to emulate. Once his health started to fail his church family released him from his many duties. They were just happy with his presence at Sunday services whenever his health permitted.
When discussions of cash expenditures arose with his caretaker daughter, Robert made it plain and simple. His cash was always freely expended for his grandchildren, food, lawn equipment and his dog.
He received a number of certificates and appreciations. Among them are: Certificate of Ordination as a Deacon, Certificate of Appreciation for Unwavering dedication and perseverance from his church, Grand Marshal for Veterans Day Parade in Oktaha, OK.
He was an avid fisherman. He loved to fish almost as much as he loved his four children. He frequently fished with his three brothers, William (Leo), Charley (Dump), John (Po Doc), his sons Rodney (Knight Owl) and Rickey (Captain). Many times, when inclement weather prevented working he would go fishing. He loved to fish at Webber Falls dam for catfish and crappie. He passed his love of fishing to his two sons.
Robert was preceded in death by several beloved family members including his parents Robert Moham Sr. and Nettie Harris-Moham, three sisters: Ann Moham, Mary Moham-Shine, Clevester Moham-Michaels, three brothers: Alan Moham, Charley Moham and William Moham Sr.
Living with many cherished memories are: his wife Jo Wanda of the home, two sons Rodney (Brenda) of Oklahoma City, OK, Rickey (Jo Ann) of Oklahoma City, OK, two daughters: Terri of Bartlesville, OK, Tanya of Oklahoma City, OK, one brother John (Lavenia) Moham of Oklahoma City, OK, two sisters Dorthy (Frank) Graves of Los Angeles, CA and Verna Moham of Gary, IN, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
