Mrs. Rowena Nero-Wong was born on January 4,1923 to the union of Earnest and Zella (Moore) Nero.
She grew up in the Four Mile Branch Community, the oldest of six children. She attended Four Mile Branch Baptist Church with her family where she accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She became an evangelist in her later years.
She Attended Nero Elementary School and Fort Gibson Lincoln High School.
She was a head strong, feisty and daring young lady to the dismay of her mother. She left home at the age of 16. Moved her birthday and age up to enter the work force at Camp Gruber in Braggs, OK. She married and divorced, then left for California and made it her home for over 60 years. She changed the spelling of her name to Roenee.
Roenee kept an immaculate home, loved expensive clothes, high heels and coming home to visit her mother and siblings. She could always be counted on to speak her mind and give her opinion, whether you wanted to hear it or not.
Roenee left her earthly home and peacefully stepped into eternity on Tuesday, April 5, 2016. She was preceded in death by her father and mother; husband, Ben Wong. Brothers: Bill, Jodie and Earnest. We honor her wish to come home one last time to be interred at the Four Mile Branch Cemetery with family.
She leaves to mourn her passing her siblings who loved her dearly; Sisters, Delarence Brown of Richmond, CA and Catherine Brown of Fort Gibson, OK. One brother, Richard (Doris) Nero of Hinesville, GA and Sister-in-law, Georgia Nero, Fort Gibson, OK. A very special niece/caretaker and verbal sparring partner, Sylvia Brown-Russell. Many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will never be another Rowena (Roenee Renee) Nero Wong
