Roger Bernard
Corbin Sr.
February 3, 1943 – February 11, 2014
Roger Bernard Corbin Sr. was born February 3, 1943, in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Edward Corbin Jr. and Betsey Smith Corbin. He was the oldest of three children born to this union. Both parents preceded him in death.
His journey in faith began at Hope Lutheran Church. At an early age, he was confirmed as a member and served as an elder for many years.
He graduated from Manual Training High School in 1961 and soon after joined the United States Air Force, where he served our country for four years. Roger later attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
On June 21, 1985, he united in Holy Matrimony to Mable Coleman and to this union one son, Roger Jr., was born.
Roger worked for Acme Engineering & Manufactory Company for thirty three years before retiring.
Roger Bernard Corbin Sr. was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and uncle.
Death may remove the physical body from our presence but nothing can erase the memories, the ups and downs, the good things and the bad, and most assuredly the joys we shared. We will miss him more than words can express. "His influence lives on in our memories."
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Mabel Corbin, of the home, a son, Roger Bernard Corbin Jr. (Crystal) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a brother, McIra Corbin of Nashville, Tennessee, a sister, Shirley Corbin Gray (William)of Desoto, Texas. Roger was also loved by three nephews: McIra Edward Corbin of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Bernard K. Gray of Desoto,Texas and Byron H. Gray of Dallas, Texas, along with other relatives and friends.
A Service of Memory will be conducted Saturday, February 15, 2014, 11:00 a.m., First Lutheran Church, 428 E. Broadway, Muskogee, OK; with Pastor Wayne Schuett, eulogizing. Interment will be Monday, February 17, 2014, 11:00 a.m., Ft. Gibson National Cemetery, Ft. Gibson, OK.The family has been cared for by the Winn family at Granger-House of Winn Funeral Home.
