November 21, 1923 – February 26, 2024
On November 21, 1923 in Henderson, Texas, a baby girl was born to the union of Ed Marbley and Rosie Lee (Kenney) Marbley. Before moving to Muskogee, her former education was in Henderson, TX. Upon moving to Muskogee she was a Certified and Licensed CMA for over 50 years in the health service industry at Terrell Nursing Home, Tower Hill Nursing Home. Her final retiring was in food service with the Green Country Public Food Industry.
At an early age her faith in God was established in Henderson, TX, but her life time church affiliation is Canaan Missionary Baptist Church of Muskogee, OK where she actively participated in the Choir, Women Mission, and Food Service of the church under the pastorship of E.V. Brown and ending with Pastor Wallace Brown.
Upon her moving to Muskogee in 1950, she met and married Levi Chatman in 1952 and to this union it brought about a combined household of 10 children, 25 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, and 30 great-great grandchildren, whom she loved unconditionally.
Rosie Chatman was preceded in death by her parents, Ed Marbley and Rosie Lee Marbley; her beloved sister, Millie Thurmond and brothers, Marion Marbley, George Marbely, Claude Marbley, and Fred McCoy; her husband Levi Chatman; her children, Emma Antione, Ronnie Levi Chatman, William Chatman, Regina Johnson, and John Terry Chatman; one grandson Micheal Jordan and one great-grandson Johnathan Chatman.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her brother Roy McCoy (Carolyn) and sister, Gracie Creer of Texas; her children, Louis Chatman, Terrell Chatman, Teresa White (John) of Muskogee, Rosemary Williams (James) of Tulsa; two daughters-in-law, Cheryl Chatman of Texas and Marie Chatman of California; 25 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, 30 great-great grandchildren, and a host of many nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled Saturday, March 9, 2024, 11:00 a.m., Canaan Baptist Church, 2331 Euclid Avenue, Muskogee, OK; with Rev. Hank McVay delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Booker T. Washington Cemetery, Muskogee, OK. Visitation will be Friday, March 8, 2024, 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at House of Winn Funeral Home, 2200 Military Blvd., Muskogee, OK.
