Mrs. Ruby Jean(Desmuke)Caldwell, age 71, a resident of Muskogee, transitioned, Wednesday, Dec. 24,2014 in Cornerstone Hospital.
On September 11, 1943, a baby girl was born to Lamar and Mattie(Bright) Desmuke. They named her Ruby "Jean". Affectionately she was called "Jean "by everyone who knew her.
She was the eighth of nine children born to this union. Jean grew up with love and guidance from a very loving family. At an early age she joined the New Zion Baptist Church and remained a member until her health began to fail.
On December 24, 2014, she took her last earthly breath to claim her wings to heaven. Jean met and married Alonzo Taylor and to this union three children were born. The union was later dissolved; Jean and Alonzo remained very good friends.
On December 25, 1983, she married Carl Edward Caldwell who remained devoted and faithful for over thirty years until her death.
Those waiting to meet "Jean" at the Pearly Gates; her parents, great-grandson; Tre'Shawn, brothers; Austin Brown and Muriel Desmuke, and sister-in-law Peggie Desmuke.
Jean leaves to cherish her memories, Husband; Carl Edward Caldwell, Two daughters; Dannie Jean White, Machella(Tracy)Marshall, and One son; Mark Steven Taylor, all of Muskogee. Thirteen Grandchildren; Skylar, Colby, and D'Kovan White. Kendall Dan, and Tramaine Marshall. Sheria, Angela, Cavell, Corin Zara, Miesha, Dre'Steven, and Destiny Taylor. Including fifteen great-grandchildren.
She also leaves Four Sisters; Joyce Hornbeak, San Antonio, Texas, Marlene(Clarence)Rhymes, Columbus, Georgia, Verna(Jesse)Palmer, Muskogee, Oklahoma and Teresa Ross, Bellflower, California. She leaves many other family members, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cherish the memories.
A Home Going Celebration will be conducted Friday, January 2, 2015, 11:00 a.m., New Zion Baptist Church, 901 N. 3rd Street, Muskogee, OK, with Rev. Gary Mitchum Sr., eulogizing. Interment will follow in Booker T. Washington Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
