Obituary

On May 22, 1928 a beautiful baby girl was born to Joseph (T.Boy) and Helen I. Andrews; In the home of her great-grandmother Ella Wilson, Hayes in Okmulgee. She grew up attending Bannacker, Attucks, and the Historical Dunbar High School. Later years she attended O.S.U. Okmulgee, where she learned upholstery.

At an early age Ruth accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, she was baptized and became a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She married her high school sweetheart James H. McClendon and they became the parents of James Charles and Carolyn. After her divorce, Ruth met and married Wiley Foreman and from their union a son Marcel was born. Five years later Ruth became the mother of her youngest son Alfred. Later years Ruth met and married Lester Chandler (deceased).

Ruth moved to Tulsa in 1952 and united with the Friendship Baptist Church and worked faithfully in the District and State. She was a member there for over thirty years. After retirement Ruth moved back to Okmulgee, reunited with Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she then lived out the rest of her days.

Ruth loved being with family and friends and growing beautiful flowers and plants. She also enjoyed cooking and was very good at it.

On Thursday night, March 5, 2020, Ruth Ella, after 91 glorious years, went home to glory and joined all her loved ones who had gone on before. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph T. and Helen Andrews, two brothers, Charles Ray and Billy Gene Andrews, two sisters Maydella and Mildred Andrews, two sons, James C. McClendon and Marcel Foreman.

Ruth leaves to cherish her memories, her children Carolyn C. Foster, and Minister Alfred L. Andrews and wife Carla. Adopted son, Minister Larry Hill, adopted daughters, Ann Brown, Alfreda Clark, Ginger Foster, two sisters, Margaret and Lenna Andrews, one brother Charles R. Andrews, two close special friends Ms. Maudetta Walker and Ms. SilverLee Ruff. Eleven grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Graveside services will be conducted, Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 12 Noon in Woodlawn Cemetery, Okmulgee, OK with minister Larry Hill of Gilcrease Baptist Church, Tulsa, OK, eulogizing.

Visitation, Wednesday, March 11th in Precious Memories Chapel-Okmulgee, during the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.  There will be no viewing at the graveside service.

The family has been cared for by House of Winn Funeral Home, Okmulgee.
