Obituary

A beautiful baby girl was born to Edna Bryant and Phint Gross on February 12, 1973, in Muskogee, OK. they named her Sherry Laquita "Quita" Sallis.

Her formal education began in the Ft. Gibson school system, where she graduated high school in 1991. She continued her education at Connors College (Business), OSU (Associate Applied Science with Registrars Honor Roll), ICTC (Medical Office Assistant), and Wings (Medical Administrative). She was currently working at BIOS as a program manager. She was loyal to her job; they could always count on her.

Sherry LaQuita accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Four Mile Branch Baptist Church, Ft. Gibson, OK. She was a God-fearing woman always keeping God first. Many people who knew her would tell you she was a beautiful soul with an amazing spirit with a generous heart.

Sherry LaQuita truly loved and enjoyed her music, whether its gospel or R&B, and her hobbies, crafts, art, designing, plants, and working in her yard and family gatherings.

She gave birth to two sons, Keyont'e and Deont'e Sallis, who truly loved and adored her. From her sons, she was blessed to become a "Meme" with four grandchildren, A'Niyah, Kylan, Brayson, and Deont'e Sallis, Jr. Her two nephews (special sons), JaVont'e and Treont'e Sallis that were like her own. She loved her baby sister, Tia Sallis; they had a relationship like glue, an unbreakable sister bond. When you saw one you would definitely see the other. She loved and cherished her mom, Edna Bryant; they had unbreakable love.

Preceding Sherry LaQuita in death were her stepfather, John Bryant, brother, John "Cody" Bryant, Jr., maternal grandparents, Homer and Jessie Sallis, four aunts, and four uncles.

She leaves to mourn: Keyont'e and Deont'e Sallis, Ft. Gibson, OK; mother, Edna Bryant, Ft. Gibson, OK; father, Phint Gross, Muskogee, OK; sister, Tia Sallis, Ft. Gibson, OK; sister, Angella Anderson, Plano, TX; brother, Johnathon (Catalina) Gross, Oklahoma City, OK; four nephews, JaVont'e and Treont'e Sallis, Ft. Gibson, OK, Jonathon and Michael Gross, Oklahoma City, OK; niece, Brandi Gross, Muskogee, OK; a goddaughter, Pinky, Edmond, OK; aunts, Elnora Gold, Ruby Cole, Kathleen (Ary) Johnson, Linda (Lloyd) West, Ruth Bryant, and Anna Bryant; great-aunt, Bertha Sallis; along with special friends and cousins.

A Home Going Service will be conducted on Saturday, January 29, 2022, 10:00 a.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church, 1487 E. Poplar, Fort Gibson, OK with Rev. Ray Pickett eulogizing. Interment will follow in Four Mile Branch Cemetery, Fort Gibson, OK. Public visitation will be Friday, January 28th in the Precious Memories Chapel, House of Winn Funeral Home, 2200 Military Blvd, Muskogee, OK during the hours of 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Mask wearing is mandatory at all services.
