Shirley B.
Carter
January 12, 1937 – June 16, 2022
Reflections of Her Life
Shirley B. (Zachary) Carter, the fifth child of Dock and Ozener (Ligons) Zachary was born January 12, 1937 in Hoffman, OK, along the Deep Fork River. Our Heavenly Father called her home on June 16, 2022 at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 4 days.
She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and became very strong in her faith, embracing the truth in God's word. She tried to let everyone she knew or met know about God's love for them. She was a kind, loving and gentle person. Because of her unwavering faith and trust in God, she dedicated her life to the profession of a caregiver in homes and nursing homes until her health failed her. She was known to our family and friends as "Mama Shirley".
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Dock and Ozener Zachary, her husband Charles James Carter, three sisters, Florence McClellan, Elizabeth Glover and Helen Gresham. five brothers Theopollus Zachary, Andrew, Charles, Robert and James(Jimmy) Zachary, one grandson Michael Douglas.
She leaves to cherish her memories three daughters, Charlene Carter, Wanda(Nathaniel) Mack of Grayson, OK and Marilyn Celestine of Okmulgee, OK. Her 8 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. A host of relatives, saints and friends.
"And I will just walk around Heaven all day" A Home Going Celebration will be conducted, Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in Church of God, 1515 E.
