Obituary

Spencer Carter, Jr. aka Duke, Duke-a-Luke! was born on April 8, 1946 to Willie Priscilla Carter and Spencer Conard in Muskogee, Oklahoma. His grandmother, Maud Carter raised him from birth until he was around 10 years old. He was a happy, loving child, full of smiles and laughter. He began working at a very early age. He had a paper route and was very conscientious. He attended school at Langston Elementary, Sadler Jr High, and Manuel Training High School. While in high school, he worked at Muskogee Country Club and was one of their best and favorite caddies! He was very particular about his belongings and space. He was known to be a sharp dresser and always kept his cars clean and beautiful.

Spencer became one of Jehovah's witnesses in the early 1960s. He was a very zealous Christian and was bold in his faith. Around 2007, Spencer rededicated his life to Jesus Christ. Spencer had a lovely singing voice and enjoyed singing duets with his daughter Demita.

Spencer leaves to cherish his memory ten sisters, Geraldine Davis of Fort Smith, AR, Johnnie Mae Walker of Muskogee, OK, Essie Goodman of Fort Smith, AR, Denice Collins of Fort Smith, AR, Sharon Williams of Roland, OK, Thelma Parks of Portland, OR, Sylena Wilkes of Portland, OR, Jessica Conard of Seattle, WA, Wanda Gill of Oklahoma City, OK, and Perline Boyattia of Muskogee, OK; four brothers: James Potts of Poteau, OK, Kenneth Potts of Roland, OK, Gary Conard of Portland, OR, and Spencer Conard of Springfield, OR; his children: Antonial Carter (Angel) of Spiro, OK, Spencer Carter, Jr. of Seattle, WA, Demetres Thomas of Muskogee, OK, Demita Carter-Green of Muskogee, OK,  Stephanie Carter of Muskogee, OK, Michelle Carter of Tulsa, OK, and Rachel Carter of Muskogee, OK; a special son-in-law Larry Green; grandchildren; an aunt and uncles; and a host of nieces and nephews.
