Obituary

On May 20, 1938, a beautiful baby girl was born to the union of Henry Ward and May Francis Carlis Murrell, she was the eighth of ten children. They named her Symantha, with a nickname of "Sweeten" or Sweet Pea". She was a loving girl who received her formal education in the Taft School system, graduating from Moton High School.

She married the love of her life, Alvin "Biscuit" Brown and they moved to Wichita, Kansas. They were both employed, and she became a dedicated nurse. She was a great parent and grandparent. She had many talents, she was a great cook, loved the outdoors, gardening, and her animals and she also grew lovely house plants. She had a green thumb. In her nursing, she truly cared about her patients.

As time passed, they decided to move back to Taft so she could take care of her mother. She and Biscuit built their own special place for their children and others. It was an area that was filled with happiness. Symantha professed a faith in Jesus at an early age and she united with the First Baptist church under the leadership of Rev. Woodrow McBride. She remained a faithful member until the lord called her home. She put God first, then her family, then herself. She was a part of the food services of Taft and she served on the Taft Counsel. But her love of cooking was such a blessing to her church and her community, as she and her daughter, "The General", Alvinetta Brown provided many occasions.

On November 14, 2023, the Lord called her name and she said her goodbyes and left for peace and comfort of her Father's house. The family that awaits her in glory: her parents, Henry Ward and Mae Francis, her husband, Alvin Brown, her brothers: O Dallas, Rufus, Ulysses, Willie V., and Chebonnie Garrett. Her sisters: Reba, Beama, and Opal.

Her children: Rodney (Sandra) Brown, Marshall Parker, Julius (Valarie) Alford, Wesley (Rose) Brown, all of Wichita, Kansas;    Alvinetta Brown, Patricia Newton, both of Taft, Oklahoma, Marlon Brown, Haskell, Oklahoma, Andre' (Twyla) Brown, Bixby, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
