Obituary

Thelma Brown, age 79, a resident of Muskogee,OK, passed away, Wednesday, December 31, 2014 in Solara/Cornerstone Hospital.

Mrs. Thelma Lee Brown entered this world on April 6, 1935 born to the union of Annie Smith and Thomas Morris. In the early morning of December 31, 2014 she crossed over the River Jordan and dozed into eternal sleep. Thelma grew up in Muskogee and graduated in 1953 from the historical, Manual Training High School.

In 1960 Thelma Married the love of her life, James Arthur Brown. As a young child, Thelma united with Union Baptist Church of Muskogee.

For the last twenty years Thelma has been a faithful and dedicated member of Rose of Sharon, Muskogee, OK; where she served in various capacities, including mother of the church.

Thelma was a avid reader. Even after her sight began to fail she loved to listen to books for hours.

Thelma was well known for her pillow and quilt making. Each made by hand, with love and care. Not only will Thelma be remembered for her special gifts, but for her beautiful eyes, warm smile and loving spirit.

Thelma was a hard worker who always took care of her family. Thelma will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but her legacy will live on through her family.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James Arthur, son, Michael, sister, Jane Sheppard and grandson, Corey.

Those who remain to cherish her memories include her son, Keith (Charo) Brown, daughters, Sharen Brown-Terrell and Sherri Brown, all of Muskogee, OK; grandchildren, Maria Morris, Christian Marshall, Keith Jr., Keisha Brown, Shantrell and Ashley Thompson, one sister, Anna Barnes, Wichita, KS; Debra Webb, Broken Arrow, OK; along with a host of adopted grandchildren, great nieces and nephews and the Rose of Sharon Church family, friends and neighbors.

A Service of Memory will be conducted, Saturday, January 10,2015
at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt Calvary Baptist Church, 622 N. 6th St,
with Rev. Chester Thomas, eulogizing.

Interment will follow in Jimerson Cemetery, Haynes,OK

Visitation will be Friday, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

The family has been cared for by Granger-House of Winn Funeral Home.
