Val Gene Hollingsworth age 56, resident of Tulsa, OK formerly of Okmulgee, OK  transitioned on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from St. Francis Medical Center, Tulsa, OK.

Val Gene Hollingsworth was the son of Ervin and Lela Hollingsworth(Mayweather) of Wichita, KS. After the passing of his father Val and Lela returned to her hometown of Okmulgee. Val attended Okmulgee Public Schools where he played football for the Bulldogs. As a young adult Val returned to Wichita where he took employment at the 7UP company, later in life he attended welding school where he was a part of a special unit where he was on call for expert welders. Val got the opportunity to meet new people and travel the world. Val accepted Christ at a very young age, and was a part of the First movement of the NAACP in the late 60's and early 70's. Under the direction of Pastor Miller and Rev. Chaney from Progressive Baptist Church of Wichita, KS. Later Val became a member of St. Matthews Church of Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

Val Gene has faced many challenges and stumbling blocks with mental issues. Yet during those quiet moments he always remembered the Lord as his Savior and prayed an earnest prayer to God. In spite of the situation he could always make you laugh or smile. He also enjoyed cooking and good food. Val and his buddy Clifford Hammon were fashion kings.

Val is preceded in death by his parents.

Val leaves behind to cherish his loving memories: His five children, Val Jr. (Peewee) Dominique, LaQuisha, George and Jason. Grandchildren: Darius Jr. (to whom he shares a birthday with), A'Mya, Tyson, trinity, GeorgeIII(G3), Jaidan, Jaxson, Amaris, Corbyn and many others. His sister Vanessa, nephew Martenus Golden (Stoney), great aunt Bobbie Jean Williams of Wichita, KS.  A host of cousins: Joyce Calloway, Jean Montgomery, Kenneth Calloway, Earl Brown and many more including the Robinson, Dawson, Jacksons, Walker, Johnson, Calloway and Mayweather families.

A memorial service will be conducted, Saturday, January 29,2022 at 4:30 P.M. in the Precious Memories Chapel of House of Winn Funeral Home-Okmulgee.
