Zenobia E. Manning, 93, homemaker, a resident of Plano, TX; formerly of Grayson, OK; passed away, Saturday, February 1, 2014.
Zenobia Elizabeth Manning was born to Sylvester Guillory of Louisianna and Pauline Rideaux of Louisianna. Zenobia was born on May 5th 1920 in Catoosa Oklahoma. She was one of 13 children, 8 brothers and 4 sisters.
Zenobia attended Uganda Martyrs Catholic School for nine years and graduated with a Certificate Of Promotion to any high school accredited secondary school in the State of Oklahoma. She had earned an (A) 4.0 grade point average.
Zenobia enjoyed a career in interior decorating and worked as a seamstress in Detroit Michigan. It was in Detroit where she met her love Robert Urias Manning. They were married and enjoyed 25 years of Holy Matrimony. Throughout those 25 years they raised their daughter Mary Maurant. They temporarily moved to Los Angeles, California which is where their son Robert U Manning III was born. After several years of enjoying the fun in the sun they returned to Detroit where they lived, worked, and partially raised their neice Tina Memsic. Whom she also calls her daughter. Zenobia remained a catholic and she led the family to Presentation Catholic Church and School in Detroit, where Robert and Tina attended for several years. Mary was married at that church and continues to attend and performs alter services for the parish. Upon the death of Zenobia's husband Robert she and little Robert moved to Grayson Oklahoma where she cared for her Father Sylvester Guillory until his death. Zenobia was married to Elmer Payne for a short time and was fortunate to have enjoyed raising Elmer Payne Jr. and she put him through High School in Dewar Oklahoma where he and Robert graduated. Zenobia also considers him her son.
Zenobia enjoyed lots of family and friends in Oklahoma, but at age 85 she decided she had much more living to do and hit the road again where she moved to Plano Texas with her son Robert, and they literally had a wonderful time together with family and friends for nine more years. During those nine years she went on tour visiting family all over Texas, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Portland Oregon, Seattle Washington, and California. She attended most family weddings and funerals. Zenobia continued her catholic faith and attended St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church in Plano, TX, and when she could not attend they came to her. She was loved by everyone she met.
